Sermon Of Apathy

Metallurgical Fire Desolator have the distinction of creating music that should appeal to any fan of the various death metal sub genres. You’re going to find both brutal (Adversarial Doctrine) and melodic (Methods of Self-deception) tracks; the album has an old school feel while not really falling into OSDM worship. The technical aspect is by no means central, but tech death fans should appreciate the riff craft on display (Creatures of Habit). I even got a Sepultura vibe from the drums on the last track. Favorite track: Methods of Self-deception.

Frank Román I'm amazed by the technical agility of the album, the way it changes the tempo, the more melodic riffs and the way it creates atmosphere. An album that introduces great gurgles in the form of riffs, the power of the voice, the gutturals. It is a very well built disc, forged from a solid structure. Not looking for the typical bastard aggressiveness. It is an album that likes to vary its intensity agilely, taking its time to recreate the favorite atmosphere. Great Work!! Favorite track: Vaticide.

Arrogant Bastard I’m always late to the Death Metal party and by the look of the artwork it was a helluva one, too!
Bog-standard death metal isn’t normally my cuppa, but Desolator says ‘to hell with my cup’ smashing my tea set and lightning my doilies aflame. (good thing I’m a coffee guy)
So, yeah, this is great death metal!

Nekobibu Great album! Nothing incredibly original here, just a collection of great death metal songs by very competent musicians.

Juan Valdeath Extremely impressive album that mixes some of the tropes of Swedish death metal (especially in the melodic lead guitar work) and US death metal. Great songwriting and production.

about

The embers of Swedish death metal are stoked white hot on Sermon of Apathy, the sophomore release of the arisen beast known as Desolator. Though the Stockholm influence so prevalent on earlier releases by the band is now but one ingredient in the burly concoction presented here, the band still remains rooted in that sound of their forefathers. Adding hearty helpings of dissonant and creative riffing influenced by the likes of Immolation and Morbid Angel, the quartet up the ante on nasty. Sermon of Apathy is a fully evolved death metal monster, with creative drumming, thunderous bass, vicious, yet melodic riffs, and obliterating growls of rage. The full package is even greater than this suggests though, as Desolator have achieved a totally mastery of composition and pitch perfect production.

Desolator Sweden

Desolator is a death metal band from Stockholm, Sweden formed in 2009. The early days of the band were dedicated to classic Swedish style death metal, but after releasing full-length ”Unearthly Monument” on Hellthrasher Productions, focus shifted towards a more epic, monolithic sound influenced by Immolation and Morbid Angel. ... more
